TAIL (Teaming for Advocacy through Independent Living) is a one hour per week, 8-week course provided for youth with disabilities in the school system for those typically in OCS, IDMod/AU and CA classrooms. Class topics relate to the disability rights movement, knowing one’s self, goal setting, communications and community resources. TAIL is activity based and uses a wide variety of games, activities and media to provide a fun and active learning experience. The TAIL curriculum can be modified to meet students’ learning needs.
Alliance serves as many schools as possible in the Raleigh-Durham and surrounding area and self-advocates are encouraged to talk with school administrators about bringing TAIL to their local school.
