Next Chapter: Josh Cummins

Josh Cummins and friend at a Durham Bulls game

I am writing this blog to announce that my last day at Alliance of Disability Advocates will be December 9th, 2016. I am very thankful and blessed to have been given this opportunity and to have met so many incredible people that I will never forget. My time and experience here have led me to the decision to go back to school to become a teacher.  I will pursue a Master’s of Special Education at Georgetown College in Kentucky beginning January 2017. I’m also pleased to announce that I was recently hired as an LBD teacher at the same elementary school I attended as a child and will begin in mid-December. This will allow me to gain invaluable experience in the classroom while I complete my master’s degree.

I would like to thank my fellow coworkers for helping ensure a smooth transition for myself when I arrived in April. Moving away from my family and friends was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, but you guys made it easier and I truly appreciate it. I would also like to thank management and the board for giving me your full support in every way. It means a lot to see how invested we all are in our youth.  The individuals I have been so fortunate to get to know and work with have made a lasting impact on my life and I only hope I was able to do the same.

I’m proud of what we were able to accomplish during my time here and can’t wait to see all the great things that will continue to be done! I’m ready for this next chapter of my life!
